Digital Trends Media Group has announced the promotion of Nick Mokey to the position of Editor-in-Chief. The appointment was effective March 18, 2024.
In this role, Mokey is responsible for overseeing our editorial and content production teams, including section editors, staff, and freelance writers, along with the overall editorial direction of the company and its online publications.
Mokey has been working with Digital Trends for 16 years, starting as a freelance writer while attending Syracuse University in 2008. After relocating from Rochester, NY to Portland to join the Digital Trends team full-time, Mokey accepted the position of associate editor. He held that position until 2012 when he was promoted to managing editor, the role he filled up until this most recent promotion.
In that prior role, and through his time with DTMG, Mokey has worked closely with the editorial team, writing and editing content, hosting videos, guiding conference tours, moderating panels, and presenting Tech Talks. Mokey has covered 17 CES events, attending the massive technology show annually since he began his career.
“After so many years riding shotgun, it feels good to finally sit in the driver’s seat,” says Mokey. “I’ve spent my entire career helping to build Digital Trends. I’m tremendously proud of the work we’ve put out into the world, and excited for what’s to come.”
“I am excited to see Nick elevate into this prestigious new role,” adds Ian Bell, Founder and CEO of DTMG. “His predecessor, Andrew Martonik has done a fantastic job setting up the editorial team for continued success, and I know Nick will be able to build on that and take this team to the next level.”
Earning a degree in journalism from Syracuse University, Mokey has applied this education and passion for technology and entertainment to his career with DTMG. When he isn’t writing, editing, managing the team, or tinkering with tech, he loves to spend his spare time building things, riding his motorcycle, and going camping with his wife and dog.
